ABUJA — Vice President Kashim Shettima has delivered a sharp rebuke against former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, describing him as a “master of bogus statistics and incoherent economic prescriptions.”
Speaking during a strategic party briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Shettima criticized the presidential candidate’s frequent reliance on foreign economic models, arguing that Obi’s analytical framework fails to account for Nigeria’s unique national realities.
Shettima remarked that Obi seems convinced that a “size 36 shirt tailored for Bangladesh will somehow fit Nigeria’s size 52 frame,” alleging that the opposition leader’s foreign comparisons overlook the specific structural dynamics that distinguish Nigeria from other developing nations.
Addressing APC campaign officials ahead of the scheduled launch of the party’s 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna on October 24, the vice president instructed party communicators to maintain decorum and focus on issue-based engagement rather than political insults.
Shettima urged campaign managers to respond to political opponents with verified facts, statistics, and sound reasoning, emphasizing that the administration’s re-election effort will center on clear economic performance and policy delivery.
