ABUJA — Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has refuted reports of his alleged arrest and brief detention by security agencies, accusing the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma of orchestrating a calculated media smear campaign against him.
In a public statement issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, by his media aide Sam Onwuemeodo, entitled “We’ve Been Vindicated: Falsehood Has Never Prevailed Over Truth”, the former governor declared that he was never arrested, interrogated, or released on bail as claimed in recent media reports circulating online.
Challenging the Imo State Government and state officials to produce evidence of his arrest or detention statement, Okorocha asserted that reports alleging he was held for one hour were fabricated to mislead the public and enforce a politically motivated agenda.
Addressing the bench warrant referenced by state officials regarding alleged criminal conspiracy and forgery, the media team clarified that the original court order dated September 9, 2026, had been officially vacated by the issuing court on September 14, rendering any attempt to enforce it in October legally invalid.
Reaffirming his commitment to public service and legal due process, the former governor called on political adversaries to desist from media trials and allow ongoing judicial proceedings to take their natural course without administrative interference or misinformation.
