ILORIN, NIGERIA — No fewer than 176 residents abducted during a violent attack on the Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom after six months in captivity.
The breakthrough was confirmed on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in an official statement released by the Kwara State Government. The release follows months of coordinated security operations, community appeals, and joint efforts by state and federal authorities to secure the captives.
