A prosecution witness, Esho Fadeke, on Thursday told a Federal High Court, Abuja that she followed standard banking procedure in the transactions she carried out.
Fadeke, a staff of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) and the account Officer to Iyalikam Nig. Ltd, made thus known when she testified in the ongoing trial of former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh.
She was led in cross examination by the second defendant’s counsel, Mr Samuel Zibiri.
Badeh had denied knowledge of operating any company account called Iyalikam Nigeria Ltd. which was traced to him.
According to her, the mandate given by the company in the account signature card submitted to the bank stipulates that either of the company owners can sign.
The witness tendered the signatory mandate the company gave to the bank and it was and it was admitted and marked as exhibits.
The witness also said that the mandate did not authorise e-mail transaction but direct user telephone instruction.
According to the witness, there is a telephone number on the mandate card used in contacting the authorised signatory of the account.
“I acted according to the standard banking procedure in every transaction and documented every transaction,’’ Fadeke said.
When asked if she had a copy of the standard procedure document with her in court, the witness told the court she did not come with it since she was not asked to come along with it.
Fadeke also told the court that she wrote three statements to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in respect of Badeh’s trial upon invitation by the commission.
“Exhibits E3 to E7 are statements of the account; in these exhibits, there were payments made by cash deposit through deposit slips.
“I do not have any deposit slip with me here either,’’ the witness said.
Badeh, is facing charges bordering on fraud to the tune of N3.97 million.
Justice Okon Abang adjourned the case till Nov. 14 and Nov. 17.
