
Some residents of Andoni Local Government Area, Rivers, have commended the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) stalwarts for providing free transportation to ensure their participation in the LG elections.
Some of them, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ikuru Town, Andoni, said that the civil servants were able to return home by bus freely, on despite not receiving August salaries.
According to them, the gesture has been the political culture in the area, the practice has continued to enhance voters participation.
One of the free bus beneficiary, Mr Japheth Mgbo, a civil servant, commended the turnout of voters in the area.
He attributed the situation to the free transportation provided by some politicians in the area.
According to him, despite delayed payments of August salaries for civil servants in the state, voters were able to return home to cast their votes.
For Mrs Henrietta Jones, PDP Woman Leader in the area, the APC Chairmanship candidate was a collective project in the area council.
NAN reports that Mr Lucky Otuo, APC chairmanship candidate, is unanimously adopted by the APC and PDP.
He was a former state Organizing Secretary of the PDP and one of former Gov. Nyesom Wike political allies.
Mr Ejit Ejimika, a RSIEC official, said that accreditation and voting commenced at 10 a.m. in Ward 5, Unit 1 in Andoni local government area.
NAN allow reports that Andoni is one of the Riverine area councils of the state currently interconnected by good road networks, making it to enjoy timely distribution of electoral materials unlike in the past.
