United States President Donald Trump has described the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran as a big day for world peace.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump said the ceasefire could be a golden age for the Middle East.
The Lagos Times reports that the United States and Iran on Tuesday reached a conditional ceasefire lasting two weeks.
This followed a last-minute diplomatic effort led by Pakistan, which effectively nullified an ultimatum from Donald Trump demanding Iran’s surrender or facing extensive destruction.
Trump’s declaration of the ceasefire agreement occurred less than two hours prior to his self-imposed deadline of 8pm Eastern time, which was set for bombing Iran’s power facilities and bridges.
“A big day for world peace. Iran wants it to happen. They have had enough. Likewise, so has everyone else.
“The United States of America will be helping with the traffic build-up in the Strait of Hormuz. There will be a lot of positive action. Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process.
“We will be loading up with supplies of all kinds and just hanging around in order to make sure that everything goes well.
“I feel confident that it will. Just like we are experiencing in the US. This could be the golden age of the Middle East,” Trump wrote.
