Why NFF sacked Gernot Rohr – Pinnick

Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigerian Football Federation, said Gernot Rohr was sacked to prevent a “disaster” waiting to happen.

Pinnick said this on Monday while he was a guest on Channels Televisión’s Sunrise Daily breakfast programme.

He said: “It wasn’t an individual decision; it was a collective decision from the committee.

“We didn’t want a disaster to happen before taking the decision.”

Pinnick, however, note that the federation still owes Rohr some salaries.

He said the debt would be paid in five months.

“We are owing him a couple of monies and they will be cleared off (in) five months.”

Rohr’s contract was terminated on Sunday by the NFF.

Augustine Eguavoen was immediately appointed to take charge as the Technical Adviser for Super Eagles on an interim basis.
