Soldier, 3 others dead as armed men attack Goodluck Jonathan’s house

A soldier on guard duty has been reportedly killed as unknown gunmen attacked the courtyard of former President Goodluck Jonathan situated close to the bank of the river at Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

The Nation reports that about three of the gunmen were also killed by the soldiers, who foiled their attempt to break into the former president’s house.

The gunmen were said to have come through the river on five speedboats and opened fire on the soldiers.

Consequently, all roads leading to Otuoke and Otuaba are currently blocked by military personnel, with the movement of residents restricted.

When contacted, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 16 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Maj. Jonah Danjuma said he will issue a statement as soon as he gets more details.

On his own part, the Bayelsa Police Command Spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat, said he does not want to talk about the military affair.
