Sen. Tokunbo Abiru (APC Lagos-East) has commiserated with the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) on the death of Prof. Tunde Samuel, a former Special Adviser on Education in Lagos State.
Samuel was a special advise lr to former governor of the state, Sen. Bola Tinubu.
Abiru in a condolence message, described the deceased as a highly cerebral academic and a political tactician who worked tirelessly to preserve the ideals of the progressives in Lagos state.
The message was signed by Abiru’s media aide, Mr Enitan Olukotun.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the deceased who was a professor of Political Economics of Education, and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos, died on Wednesday night, aged 73.
The late All Progressives Congress Chieftain was Tinubu’s policy and political strategist and a member of the 2014 National Conference.
As one of the founding fathers of the Lagos State University (LASU), who served as a member of the Implementation Committee and two-time member of the Provisional Government Council, Abiru eulogised the contributions of late Samuel to the development of Education in Lagos
“It is very painful losing Prof. Tunde Samuel at a time like this when his political insights will be highly needed.
“However, we are comforted that he lived a good life worthy of emulation and devoted his life to the cause of humanity.
“The deceased contributed in no small measure to the advancement of education in Lagos state.
“Posterity will forever be kind to him as one of the founding fathers of LASU and the Pioneer Provost of Micheal Otedola College of Primary Education, Noforija, Epe, Lagos from 1994 and 2002,” he said.
Abiru, also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Industries, also extended his condolences to the late Samuel’s family and the people of the Lagos East Senatorial District.
He said: “I commiserate with the family, the entire people of Lagos state, the APC, and the GAC on this monumental loss.
