Rivers Crisis: Resist any form of provocation to violence, Dickson appeals to Stakeholders

Senator Seriake Dickson, PDP Bayelsa West has appealed to the People and Youths of Rivers State and Youths of Ijaw Nation across the Niger Delta to continue to be peaceful and resist any form of provocation or incitement to violence.

Senator Dickson made this known in a statement shortly after he paid a visit to Governor Siminalaye Fubara, Governor of Rivers State where they discussed the political development in the State within the last couple of weeks.

He appreciated the governor’s peaceful disposition even in the midst of unprecedented turbulence.

The Lawmaker commended the people of Rivers State for maintaining peace and order even in the midst of the extreme political development.

He urged all stakeholders to place the overall well-being of Rivers state, its people, the Niger Delta region and the entire country in their decisions, utterances and actions.

Senator Dickson also urged Retired Vice Admiral Ibol- Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, to refrain from actions that do not build confidence and aid the quick and amicable resolution of the crisis in the State.

He called on President Bola Tinubu to prevail on stakeholders, especially the FCT Minister and governor Fubara, to find a common ground for tolerance and accommodation for a quick resolution, stressing that there are no perfect fathers and sons.

While he called on all leaders from the Niger Delta at the State and National level to play an active part in the resolution of the issues, Senator Dickson stated that the Ijaw Nation is not at war with the President or the APC-led Federal Government.

In his conversation with Senator Dickson, Governor Fubara expressed confidence in the ability of the institutions and leadership of the country to do what is right.
