Police arrest man for allegedly robbing women with fake pistols
The Lagos State Police Command on Monday arrested a suspected armed robber who specialises in robbing women with fake pistols.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, who stated this in a statement, said that the suspect was arrested on Aug. 19 at Itedo Bus Stop, Lekki Phase 1, while attempting to dispossess a lady of her bag.
“The eagle-eyed policemen on patrol led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Maroko Division, SP Abdumajid Isah, sighted the suspect and quickly arrested him.
“Upon his arrest, two toy-pistols and a knife were found on him.
“The suspect, during interrogation, said he had been using the pistols to dispossess innocent citizens around Lekki axis of their belongings.
“ The suspect also said that his victims were always scared believing the pistols were real.’’
The statement stated that the suspect had been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) department of the command for further investigation.
The spokesperson assured residents of the state that the command would continue to do everything within its capacity to ensure a crime-free state.
She appealed to every resident to always report any suspicious movements of any individuals or group of people to the nearest police station.
Badmos advised criminals engage themselves in legitimate businesses.
She warned that if caught, they would face the wrath of the law.
