Residents of Kelebe Community in Osogbo, Osun State capital have raised the alarm over a letter that was circulated in the area by unknown people, notifying them of a planned visit by armed robbers.
The letter, which has circulated widely in the community, was written in Yoruba language, and told the people to be battled-ready as men of the underworld would visit them any time soon.
A copy of the letter was made available to The Lagos Times by one the landlords in the community on Sunday.
The Lagos Times gathered that some people have started relocating because of the impending robbery attack.
The spokesperson of Kelebe Landlords Association, Mr Hakeem Bolarinwa told journalists that the warning was real and called on police and other security agencies in the state to be proactive by putting in place necessary security measures that would ensure the safety of residents.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Fimihan Adeoye assured that policemen would be deployed to the area. He advised the residents of Kelebe and the entire people of Osun State not to panic over the purported letter.
The CP who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Folasade Odoro said police detective would investigate the supposedly armed robbers’ notification letter.
