Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi has envisaged that the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt may be a ‘war’ zone to all the competitors vying for honours in the week-long championship.
According to him, every team in the competition is hungry for achievement and they would do everything to make their impact felt in the event.
Speaking on recorded video sent from Eagles camp to thelagostimes.com.ng, Iwobi, is however optimistic that Nigeria will put up a spectacular showing in the Fiesta.
‘We are confident we will do well. We have decided to put in all our best and play as a team.
We are excited to have John Mikel Obi back in the team. We know that his wealth of experience would help us scale through. He has seen it all. From Chelsea’s international outings in Europe and other clubs he had played for we know he is a big boost to the team,’ Iwobi stated.
Nigeria is in group B with Burundi, Guinea, and Madagascar. Iwobi believes these teams could pose a big threat to Eagles chances of winning the championship.
“There is no small team in African football. Every team is important from the preliminary stages to the final. We would all fight and win to race,” he stressed.
Iwobi is hopeful that the players would live up to their determination as the camp is in high spirit, ready for the kill.
“The chemistry is good in camp. We are one good family. We are very young and there’s a bright future for us. It is going to be very competitive for us. We know is not going to be easy. We are confident and we are going to be working very hard”.
