Happy birthday Barack Obama! It’s the former president’s 57th birthday today, and as always, the Obamas reminded us how they will always be our favorite couple.
In honor of the president’s birthday, Michelle Obama shared a sweet photo on Instagram with a caption that makes our hearts melt. “Happy birthday @BarackObama! The view is always better with you” she wrote, alongside a photo of Barack looking over a valley.
This wasn’t Barack’s only special birthday gift. The 44th President of the United States stepped out for a lunch date with his former vice president and BFF Joe Biden yesterday, where the two ordered matching sandwiches because of course, they did. Biden also took to social media to wish his buddy a happy birthday, writing in a Tweet, “Our lunches together were a highlight of every week at the White House. Last week’s trip to @DogTagBakery was no different. Happy birthday to my brother, my friend, @BarackObama.” The former VP added a smiling selfie of him and Obama together along with his message.
To make his birthday even better, the state of Illinois (his home state!) made today the official “Barack Obama Day” in celebration of his birthday and everything he has done during his years as president and after he left the White House.
Barack and Michelle will celebrate 26 years of marriage together in October. On their anniversary last year, Michelle shared a picture of she and her husband together on the day and wrote in a caption, “Happy 25th anniversary @barackobama. A quarter of a century later, you’re still my best friend & the most extraordinary man I know. I 💕 you.”
