Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), has charged graduating students of the institution to be solution providers as part of their contributions toward lifting the nation.
Olatunji-Bello gave the charge on Wednesday in Lagos at a news conference on activities lined up for the 25th convocation of the institution.
According to her, convocation of the institution begins from March 16 and ends on March 24.
She disclosed that 112 graduands are to be awarded First Class degrees, out of a total of 7,232 graduating students.
The VC said that the society was in serious need of solution providers, hence the need for the fresh graduands to contribute in that regard, adding that the institution had already trained them.
“These graduands have fulfilled the requirements for the award of the degrees of this great institution, I congratulate them ,their parents and guardians. To continue doing us proud, I urge them to prove themselves by being solution providers.
“I wish them the very best as they enter the next phase of their lives,” Olatunji-Bello said.
She gave assurances that the commitment to achieve their vision was unshaken, even though the current management under her was barely six months in office.
“The institution had never left any stone unturned in achieving these goals.
“Only recently, we secured approval to establish three new faculties and one school, namely; Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Environmental Sciences among other initiatives.
“Others include ;School of Library, Archival and Information Science, which is the first in West Africa, and Second in Africa.
“I am confident that with the support of all our stakeholders and by the grace of God,we will achieve many more within a short period,” Olatunji-Bello said.
