LagosAME calls for registration into its free adult literacy programme

The Lagos State Agency for Mass Education (LagosAME) has called on adult residents who can’t read and write to register for its free Adult Literacy Campaign, to improve the social and economic status.

The Adult Literacy programme is meant for those who never attended primary school or those who did not finish their primary education.

According to the chief executive of the agency, Mrs. Kemi Kalesanwo, the programme has a 9-month duration with 24 hours contact period per month.

Mrs. Kalesanwo further stated that the contact period timing is flexible and emphasised that the programme is completely Free of Charge.

In a chat with The Lagos Times, she further stated that the agency has 680 Adult Literacy Centres across Lagos State, adding “we are looking at increasing the Centres to 1000 this year.”

According to her, Lagos State Government provides teaching and learning materials for participants in the programme and also pays the facilitators (teachers).

The minimum qualification for being a facilitator in the programme is NCE.
