Lagos begins trial of BRT driver for ‘rape’, ‘murder’

The trial of a BRT driver, Andrew Nice Omininikoron, who was alleged of raping and murdered of a 22-year old fashion designer, Bamise Ayanwola, has commenced before a Lagos High Court sitting in Tafa Balewa Square.

The trial commenced after Omininikoron was re-arraigned on a five-count charge before Justice Sherifat Sonaike.

The Attorney General of Lagos State, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) led the prosecution team in the trial of BRT driver alleged of raping and murdering a 22-year old fashion designer, Ayanwola on February 26. 2022
The suspect was also alleged of raping one Maryjane Ozezulu sometime on November 2021.

He pleaded not guilty to all the five-count charges.

The state government earlier turned down the request of the Ayanwola family’s counsel, Adesina Ogunlana, for a fiat to prosecute the case on its behalf.
