In order to easily access loans, a business owner must imbibe cardinal virtues as character, capacity and commitment, the Acting Managing Director of Bank of Industry, Mr Waheed Olagunju, has said.
Olagunju made the remark in a statement he issued in Abuja on Sunday.
He listed other virtues as skills, requisite knowledge and responsibility.
Olagunju said the bank had released relevant tips to enable manufacturers in Aba to access loans easily.
He added that government had been coming up with procurement policies in favour of SMEs
“The first aim starts with marketing; how manufacturers market their businesses’’
He expressed the view that government should patronise MSMEs.
“We, however, need to change our taste for foreign goods. We should consume what we produce, not only consuming what we do not produce.
“But now that we have foreign exchange crunch, we are being forced to leave foreign goods more and more.
“So let us pray and hope that the attitude sticks with us,’’ Olagunju said.
Olagunju said the provision of relevant tips was necessary in order to break the barriers/difficulties faced by some business men in accessing loans.
