The House of Representatives has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to designate bandits as terrorists.
Newsmen report that the Senate had during the plenary session on Wednesday asked President Buhari to declare the bandits as terrorists.
However, in a unanimous resolution at the plenary on Thursday, members of the House of Representatives joined their counterparts in the Upper House to urge President Buhari to declare the bandits as terrorists.
The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance moved on Thursday by the chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Babajimi Benson.

The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, had asked for those who were against the motion but the lawmakers chorused, “No!”
The motion was unanimously adopted through a voice vote.
Bandits have been ravaging the northern part of Nigeria, especially the Northwest, with thousands of people killed and many kidnapped for ransom.
Several school children have been abducted by bandits, holding them hostage for months and releasing them after collecting ransom.
The bandits have also been fingered in several attacks such as the invasion of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna; the attack on Federal Prison in Kogi, the shooting of a Nigeria Airforce jet, among other criminal activities.
