Dr. Reuben Abati, the former spokesman to former President Goodluck Jonathan, was interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja on Monday. Some reports said he had been arrested.
He was believed to have been interrogated over allegation of collecting about N100 million from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, being part of the $2.1 billion purportedly meant for the purchase of arms for the Nigerian Army to battle Boko Haram insurgents.
As at about 10pm on Monday, it was not certain whether he had been detained by the EFCC. Spokesman of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren did not pick his phone when called Monday night by the News Agency of Nigeria. He did not also respond to out text message.
Many other prominent Nigerians, including former minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, have been arrested for partaking in the sharing of the money.
Some media moguls were also among the people arrested.
One of the arrested media men was Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the founder of Daar Communications, the owner of Africa Independent Television and Ray power radio.
He was alleged to have collected N2.2billion.
Many military bigwigs have also been arrested, many of whom are facing trial.
Dasuki, who disbursed the money was still being held as investigations continue.
