Buhari phones Emir of Katsina over mom’s death

President Muhammadu Buhari has telephoned from London the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Usman, over the death of the Emir’s mother on Saturday.

The Nigerian leader is having an extended vacation in London. He left Nigeria on 19 January and of recent has been making calls to his aides in Nigeria.

President Buhari condoled with the traditional ruler, urging him to take solace in the fact that Hajia Aminatu Mai Babban Daki lived a good life, devoted to serving Allah and humanity. “Please be comforted. May Allah accept her soul,” the President said. The deceased was survived by nine children, and has been buried according to Muslim rites.

The Katsina Emirate Council announced the death of Hajia Aminatu Mai Babban Daki earlier today.

Alhaji Bello Mamman, Secretary, Katsina Emirate Council, who announced her demise, said that Aminatu died on Saturday in Katsina, after a protracted illness.
