The Yoruba Nation Youth Alliance, YONAYA, has accused the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu of collaborating with the incumbent Governor, Olusegun Mimiko to rig the guber poll in favour of APC.
The group alleged that the duo have resolved to employ crook and illegal means to ensure victory for APC and its candidate.
YONAYA, in a statement signed by its Secretary General, Comrade Oladele Adebayo and made available to The Lagos Times in Osogbo on Saturday described Akeredolu as an unsalable candidate who according to the group has been rejected by the good people of the state.
The group noted that the people of the state have lost the confidence reposed in him due to his arrogance, alienation and lack of understanding of people’s needs.
YONAYA said Akeredolu’s hobnobbing strategy with Mimiko remained a failed political gimmick that has already been jettisoned in the political scheme of Ondo state.
The statement reads in parts: “Since his stooge and the factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Jegede has been knocked out of the stage, Mimiko is now negotiating with Akeredolu for soft landing.”
According to Adebayo, the two kite options of unholy alliance with Mimiko and rigging plan being flew by Akeredolu and Ondo APC will never work as the people both locally and internationally are more than vigilant on the election.
“It is viral in the news that immediately Rotimi Akeredolu was declared winner of the fraudulent primaries of the APC, Governor Mimiko popped a very big bottle of champagne in celebration because he and his party have always described Akeredolu as a good customer in the polls with no single marketable character.
“Now that Mimiko is drowning with his party, Governor Okorocha came on board to anchor an unholy alliance with him on behalf of Akeredolu against the wishes of the people”, Adebayo added.
The group then appealed to President Mohammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC not to allow people with questionable character to taint their image.
