Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Lagos East Senatorial District bye-election scheduled to hold on October 31, Mr. Tokunbo Abiru has appealed to graduates of the Lagos State University (LASU) and current students of the prestigious institution residing in his senatorial distrcit to troop out on election day and vote him in.
He made appeal on Saturday when he received in audience a delegation of LASU alumni stakeholders at his Ikorodu residence.
The delegation, led by LASU Alumni Association’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Mr. Teju Sonoiki; included a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Jimi Benson; two other members of BoT, Mr. Biodun Durojaiye and Shakiru Odusanya; a renowned environmen consultant, Mr. Idowu Salawu; a media consultant, Bunmi Awonaya. Also in attendance was the Director-General of the Tokunbo Abiru Campaign Organisation (TACO), Hon. Segun Olalude.
Abiru said it was important to help mobilise people in his constituency to troop out to vote, noting that the voters may think that not much is at stake, given that this bye-election is a ‘stand-alone’, as against a general election that usually feature several elective positions being contested at the same time.
In his earlier remarks, Teju Sonoiki assured Abiru of the support of the LASU Alimni stakeholders in his electioneering campaign.
On his part, Mr. Idowu Salawu presented some campaign memorabilia designed to support Abiru’s electioneering campaign, promising that a good quantity of the items would be produced and distributed in the whole of the Lagos East Senatorial District.
