Former Anambra Governor Peter Obi has secured the presidential ticket of the Labour Party (LP).
Obi emerged the party’s presidential flag bearer at the Convention and presidential primary in Asaba, Delta State.
Foremost economist, Prof Pat Utomi, stepped down for Obi.
Utomi explained Obi is a younger aspirant with the capacity to effect the needed change in the system.
Another aspirant, Joseph Faduri stepped down for the former governor.
The development follows Obi’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on May 20.
The former PDP aspirant blamed “recent developments in the party” for his move.
