Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila has drummed support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Speaker, through one of his initiatives, ‘The Gbaja 4 Tinubu/Shettima Presidency Project 2023’ in collaboration with Hope for Second Chance (HOSEC) and Pad Up Africa said they were convinced of Tinubu’s track record and ability to tackle myriad problems Nigeria faces.
They spoke at Surulere, the Speaker’s constituency during International Girl Child day.
Scores of students across the education districts in Surulere Constituency 1 attended the programme.
The groups that sensitised the students on menstrual health management and care also distributed sanitary pads to the girls.
The wife of the Speaker, Mrs. Salamatu Gbajabiamila, extolled the virtues and highlighted the challenges facing the Girl Child to menstrual health, citing them as bullying, stigma and lack of access to sanitary pads.
She encouraged the girls to work hard and achieve their goals and cited her commitment to equip teenage girls across the state to earn a decent living via vocational skills programme and access to sanitary pads.
According to the Founder of Hope for Second Chance, Ibukun Otesile, the Project was aimed at training 500 girls across five states in the country with vocational skills and 100,000 girls on the making of safe and hygienic sanitary pads.
A book “My Menstrual cycle and I” written by Dupe Oteri, was presented and distributed for free to the pupils.
Oteri said the purpose of the book was to provide proper and correct information about the menstruation of girls.
