Niger PDP Chair disowns Sheriff‎, says signature was forged

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state, Barrister Tanko Beji has disowned the Senator Ali Modu Sherif led faction of the party saying those at the meeting were selected stooges.

The party said in a statement made available to newsmen in Minna on Sunday that it was not part of the meeting held in Abuja last week where Senator Ali Modu Sherif was endorsed as the national chairman of the party.

The statement signed by state chairman who was reported as one of the 26 state chapter chairmen at the meeting said he was not at the meeting and could not have signed any document affirming Sherif as the national chairman of the party.

” I wish to state that I am not aware of the said meeting and was not in attendance at same. Those who attended according to findings are stooges in Sheriff’s hands.

“The signature against my name is equally not mine.

” For the avoidance of doubt I remain committed to the National Caretaker Committee of the party and I am in support of the appeal at the supreme court”.

Tanko Beji therefore advised ” our teeming supporters across the state and Nigeria ” to disregard the publication.
